Welcome to Coleraine College and thank you for taking the time to visit our brand new website which will provide you with all you need to know about our school, including our school polices, information on curriculum areas and current news relating to our school community. The website is very much in it’s infancy and over the coming weeks additional information will be added as we continue to develop its functionality.
This is an exciting time for education in Coleraine, and as the new Principal of Coleraine College I am looking forward to the opportunities resulting from the rationalisation and reorganisation of education provision in this area. As fewer grammar school places will now be available I want to raise standards and levels of attainment at Coleraine College ensuring that it becomes a viable alternative and will be the non-selective school of choice for young people in the Coleraine area.
Coleraine College can offer a wide and varied curriculum at Key Stage 3, taught by a team of experienced and dedicated professionals, providing our young people with positive learning experiences in a range of subjects, and equipping them with the knowledge and skills that will help make them effective contributors to our local community.
At GCSE pupils can avail of a curriculum that offers both traditional subjects alongside more vocational disciplines to provide the best pathway for success. We have a small Sixth Form where students can choose from a range of options which are delivered both in house and through the Coleraine Area Learning Partnership. Sixth Formers also avail of a programme of enrichment activities to broaden their educational horizons.
Our Learning Support Centre provides children with great opportunities in a caring, challenging and supportive environment.
An effective and proactive Pastoral Care System ensures that all pupils at the College are valued, and that all individual needs are catered for in an inclusive, caring and supportive environment. High standards of behaviour and appearance are expected from all pupils and our RESPECT code at the College helps to promote positive values and relationships in school.
A considerable amount of money has been spent recently to improve accommodation and provision at the College. New PVC windows have recently been installed throughout the school which will help make the building both warmer and more energy efficient, while a brand new, high spec Art and Design Department, equipped with a suite of Macs, a kiln and a ceramics studio, has just been completed. This is undoubtedly one of the best equipped Art studios in the local area.
An extensive range of extra-curricular activities is on offer for all of our students and we encourage everyone to find an activity that interests them, to get involved and make a positive contribution to the life of our school.
Should you wish to find out more about Coleraine College we would encourage you to contact us to make an appointment to come and view the school.
With the help and support of parents, carers and all relevant stakeholders in the local community, we can make Coleraine College a successful school and one which we can all be very proud of.
