The School Fantasy Football League is a nationwide competition organised along similar lines to the Fantasy Football leagues that appear in the National Newspapers. Nationally over 120,000 pupils and teachers are involved in the Schools Fantasy Football League each year. Amongst this number are students and teachers from Coleraine College.

Students (and teachers) become managers for the season by choosing their dream team from a large list of players, all from the Premiership and all with a pre-determined multi million pound value. There are two constraints affecting the choice of players for a fantasy football team. Firstly, there is a limit of £70million on the total value of the players that make up an individual team and, secondly, there can only be a maximum of three players from any one Premiership team. Team managers have an opportunity to trade a maximum of four players during each of the three transfer windows which occur through the season.

Premiership players gain points for their fantasy team by scoring goals, keeping clean sheets, assisting in the goal scoring etc. The aim of each team manager is to gain as many points as possible during the season for their team by skillfully choosing, and later, trading players.

Certificates are awarded each month to the Manager of the Month at each participating school. At the end of the year medals are awarded to the Manager of the Year in each year group at each school. There are also prizes for the best managers in the region and nationally. Full details can be found on the official School Fantasy Football League website.
