 Religious Education

The Religious Education department aims to deliver a rich and varied Programme of Study for all pupils in Key Stages 3 & 4

Key Stage 3

In this department, we aim to present the various teaching topics in a fresh and challenging way, allowing pupils the opportunity to examine and reflect on their own attitudes and ultimately encourage them to respect the religious beliefs, values, practices and lifestyles of others.  All pupils are encouraged to think for themselves and we endeavour to create expressive and dynamic students who develop to their full potential and can express themselves through new ideas and experiences.

The content of the Religious Education syllabus is child-centred and based on the Revelation of God through the study of the Bible; the teachings of the Christian Church and the evaluation of Christian moral principles.  In addition, at Key Stage 3, pupils are introduced to two world religions other than Christianity.

CCEA - Key Stage 4 (GCSE)

The Key Stage 3 curriculum fully prepares all pupils to study Religious Education at Key Stage 4.  We offer the NI CCEA RS GCSE.  Pupils will cover Christianity through a study of the Gospel of Matthew and an introduction to Christian Ethics.
