Welcome to Coleraine College which has aptly been described by one parent as “The best kept secret in Coleraine”. It is our aim to be “more than just a school” and to this end we would encourage you to visit us by arrangement so that you can judge for yourselves what we are trying to achieve. Here in this school we consider the needs of every individual child as we nurture, encourage and guide them to achieve their full potential whatever their circumstances.

The teaching practises and professionalism of the staff in Coleraine College are second to none and from the outset, each child who passes through the doors of this school becomes a member of the school community and as such he or she immediately benefits from the caring, Christian ethos which we espouse. Coleraine College caters for children from every background and creed and all pupils are welcomed and integrated into school life, with individual attention given to each and every specific need.

Moving from a primary to secondary school is an exciting and significant event in the life of your child.  It is an important milestone when young people are expected to cope with a variety of new experiences and changes, many of which demand skills and abilities which they have not had to use before.  We, at the College, are very conscious of this situation, and we aim to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible.  For your reassurance, the young people who come to us in Year 8 tell us that they settle in very quickly to the life of the College and that they are very happy here.

Our Pastoral Care system tried and tested, and ensures that the young people are well looked after on an on-going basis by staff who are caring and sympathetic.

We can assure you that you will be kept informed about the progress of your son/daughter.  There are formal opportunities throughout the year when teachers can meet with parents and carers.  However, we also welcome parents and carers phoning the College to make an appointment to see a Form Teacher, Year Head or Pastoral Head, if the need arises.  We believe very strongly that a strong partnership between staff and parents/carers is the key to young people being successful.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to read the Prospectus carefully in order to appreciate the very wide range of subjects on offer at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.  It is our policy to extend pupils to reach the height of their potential and we encourage them to set targets which, although achievable, are challenging.  Our full range of extra-curricular activities compliments the academic to provide an all-round education for our young people.

I hope that you find the information contained in this website useful.  We would be happy to address any individual queries.  All College policies are available on request.
