Key programme 2010-11
The Key programme (Knowledge through Enterprise for Youth) programme is a cross border and cross community project aimed at encouraging personal development in young people through enterprise training and outdoor activities. It is an innovative, internationally recognised leader in its field. Since it began over 8,000 young people aged 14 – 16 have graduated from the programme.
The students attended 4 residential camps during the school year, where they participated in workshops and complete modules focused on building motivation and confidence, career planning, interview skills and entrepreneurship. They even create their own business offering them the chance to become a KEY Entrepreneurs of the year and attend an international Student Conference in Canada. Students are encouraged to socialise and work with other young people form different backgrounds, take part in activities that range form rock climbing to canoeing, and discover and explore heir own talents.
The students excelled in this environment and congratulations must go to Tyrone Graham, who, with his team came away with 2 awards for best overall company and most innovative product. Nicole McCloy also took away the best marketing and best teamwork award and Nicola Campbell was presented with best overall participant in outdoor activities.
