 Curriculum Overview

The Curriculum

It is our aim to provide a caring and stimulating environment in which each pupil is enabled to reach his or her potential. Pupils are nurtured and encouraged enabling them to develop socially, physically intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Pupils with learning difficulties are given support in small groups. All teachers are subject specialists and use a wide range of teaching strategies to provide the best possible learning opportunities for their students. The staff continually strive to achieve the best possible results for all those who are part of the school community.

In Years 8, 9 and 10 we deliver the revised Curriculum including Learning for Life and Work and cross-curricular skills including Using Mathematics, ICT and Communication. In Years 11 and 12 additional subjects such as Occupational Studies are offered to give breadth and balance to the Key Stage 4 Curriculum.

In Key Stage 5, pupils returning to school after their GCSEs are presented with a wide range of AS and A2 Level courses including applied courses in Health and Social Care, Sports Science, Travel and Tourism, Art and Design.

Throughout all Year Groups there are opportunities to participate in an extensive range of extra-curricular activities including residentials, educational visits and work experience. Careers information and guidance is an essential element of our provision and all pupils will take part in work experience programmes.
